WHO IS OUR 200 HOUR TRAINING FOR?

Anyone who is interested in learning more about the art and science of Yoga in a well rounded way. Many of our students never plan to teach yoga, this is perfect for deepening your own practice as well!

In addition to the study of the physical postures of Yoga, we will spend time talking about philosophy, pushing our personal boundaries when it comes to our beliefs about ourselves and the world around us, exploring our minds and any patterns that are impeding our progress towards our goals and forming a connection with one another. If you’re looking for connection, inspiration, and a deepening of understanding of your own spirituality, mind and body, this is the training for you.
We will also gain an understanding of what is happening below the skin in a Yoga (asana) practice. We are passionate about studying anatomy and love to share this with our students.

We do not have a minimum requirement for our students in terms of length of time or level of practice. For those coming with less experience and looking for certification, we will work together to be sure you’re ready to teach upon leaving the training if that is your goal.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

This training will share with you the full practice of yoga. So much of what we see in the media today is focused on the yoga postures, also known as Asana. We will spend time on this of course, but we will really dive deep into the philosophy and true meaning of yoga together. Through your live classroom time with your training group, pre-recorded lectures, group discussion in our facebook group and on the virtual Zoom calls, reading, and personal exploration, you’ll leave this training with a much deeper understanding of the roots and history of yoga, and how you can share that with others.

In this training we will focus on both gentle Vinyasa Flow and Restorative Yoga styles. You will learn to teach effectively in both of these styles and will be able to use your new skills to put together other types of classes as well. You will be provided with outlines for both of these types of classes, as well as details on how to teach each section of the outline. You’ll practice teach to your peers in the live training time and get to experience live classes in each style with your live trainer as well.

This isn’t an acrobatic Yoga training. We will not study how to do headstands or handstands, or other physically “complicated’ postures. We WILL focus on around 50 postures (asanas) that can be offered in yoga classes of any level. Using breath, internal focus, increased body awareness and mindfulness to increase the level of difficulty when desired.

Upon registration students will receive access to the online training materials, which include a PDF of the training manual and several online learning modules complete with readings, videos and assignments. You’ll be provided with a detailed schedule and plan for completion of the online component and when your live training classes and Virtual Zoom Meetings will be. You’ll complete 6 live training days with your live trainer, as well as 3 two hour Zoom calls with your training group on the months that you don’t have live training days.

You’ll be guided the whole way by your live trainer and via the online training materials. There is a reading list and several written assignments.

HOW DO YOU GRADUATE?

The final evaluation will be to teach both a Vinyasa flow and Restorative Yoga class on video, which will be submitted to your live trainer for evaluation. You’ll receive guidance on how to do this and will be prepared by the time this is due!
